Recertification Policy

Recertification Policy:

  • Recertification is a state where one’s certification status is reinstated as the required criteria has been fulfilled.
  • The Recertification policy and criteria should be well defined and publicly available.
  • The certification department will award a new certificate with a new unique ID if an individual is granted a re-certification status.
  • The certification department can grant re-certification status to an individual who qualifies as per the required criteria as long as the certification title is available and not retired.
  • The re-certification process should have a mechanism in place to always ensure updated and correct information.
  • The re-certification status should be tracked for all certification holders and the data should be easily available to both the certification department internally and external parties who wish to verify the certification status of a certified member.
  • An information related to the re-certification other than the certification status must be held as confidential.
  • All material collected through the re-certification process must be stored securely for a period of 90 days. PI details must only be held securely for 30 days.

Re-certification period.

  • The re-certification status is valid for 3 years from date of issue.
  • The certification department will ensure that the rationale for the recertification period shall consider, where relevant, the following:
    1. Regulatory requirements.
    2. Changes to normative documents.
    3. Changes in the relevant scheme requirements.
    4. The nature and maturity of the industry or field in which the certified person is working.
    5. The risks resulting from an incompetent person.
    6. Ongoing changes in technology, and requirements for certified persons.
    7. Requirements of interested parties.
    8. The frequency and content of surveillance activities, if required by the scheme.

Re-certification criteria.

  • The certification department can grant recertification only if:-
    1. A certified member successfully passes the latest version of the exam available.
  • Should the certified member choose to attempt the latest version of the exam available, the certification department will follow all certification processes including but not limited to the eligibility, exam administration, surveillance policies while granting a re-certification status like that of an original certification without any bias, maintaining impartiality.
